Death Toll Exceeded 1700 In Myanmar Earthquake

Latest reports suggest that over 1700 people got killed and more than 3400 people got injured in Myanmar earthquake that scaled 7.7 magnitude on Friday near Mandalay. Geologists described the force of the earthquake as equivalent to that of “334 atomic bombs”.

Out of the 1700 people got killed, not less than 700 people were Muslims as the earthquake hit during holy month Ramadan Friday prayer time. It is also reported that nearly 60 mosques got destroyed.

The country’s military-led government on Monday stated that bodies are being recovered from the rubble counted to 1700. More search operations are on and the death toll as well as the injured numbers are definitely to increase. It is also figured out that 300 people are still missing.

The Myanmar earthquake has damaged not only second largest city, Mandalay but also the capital city Naypitaw. The earthquake epic center was near Mandalay.

Relief efforts have been hampered by downed bridges and buckled roads apart from civil war conditions. Building and other civil infra structures got damaged which included airports and road transportation.

On the other hand, the earthquake has its impact in the neighbouring country Thailand. The Myanmar earthquake rocked much of Thailand country’s infrastructure too. Atleast 18 people were reported killed while high rise buildings got collapsed in Bangkok city. Thailand government has announced that normal situations has been reinforced in Bangkok.

India has launched aid operations with the name Brahma to help the Earthquake hit areas. Already Indian medical aid has landed in Myanmar. Apart from India, International aid pouring in for Myanmar.
