Asif Ali Zardari will take oath as Pakistan’s 14th President today In Islamabad’s Aiwan-e-Sadr at 04.00 P.M this evening. He is elected for 2nd time. Zardari will replace Dr Arif Alvi.
CJP (Chief Justice of Pakistan) Qazi Faez Isa will administer the presidential oath ceremony. Moreover, the swearing ceremony will be witnessed by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman of Staff Committee General (CJCSC) Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and all 3 service chiefs.
All the Governors of 4 provinces, Chief Ministers, and all the foreign diplomats will also participate in the ceremony.
PPP (Pakistan Peoples Party) won the elections by a huge margin thus, making Asif Ali Zardari, Co-Chairman, elected as the head of Pakistan for the second time by defeating PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai. PPP is allied with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

- Zardari won 411 electoral votes in parliament.
- Achakzai bagged 181 votes.
- In the National Assembly, Zardari bagged 225 votes.
- Achakzai received 119 votes.
- In the Sindh Assembly, Zardari gained 53 votes.
- Achakzai received only 3 votes in the Sindh Assembly.
- Zardari received 43 votes in the Punjab Assembly, 8 Votes in the KP Assembly, and 47 in the Balochistan Assembly respectively.
- Achakzai received 18 votes in the Punjab Assembly, 41 Votes in the KP Assembly, and 0 in the Balochistan Assembly respectively.
Earlier, Zardari served as the 11th president of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013 and has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018.
Zardari was born in 1955. His childhood and education were in Karachi. He got married to Pakistan’s former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s daughter, Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in December 2007.
