Australian Veteran Cricketer Dean Jones Sudden Death

Former Australian Cricketer and well-known commentator, Dean Jones died at the age of 59 with cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon.

The sudden death of the cricketer has left the cricketing world with shock and heart-breaking. Dean Jones was in Mumbai (India) as a part of the commentary box team for the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL) broadcast set-up.

Indian Cricketing officials said that his family was informed about the tragedy. Speaking about the sudden demise of the Australian veteran cricketer turned commentator, officials said that he was absolutely normal and fine till he collapsed with a cardiac arrest (Heart attack). Many cricketers around the world poured tributes for Dean Jones.

Dean Mervyn Jones was born on 24 March 1961 in Coburg, Victoria, Australia. The Right-handed batsman cum Right arm off-spinner started his International test career on 16 March 1984 against West Indies. His Limited overs (One Day International) carrier started on 13 January 1984 against vs Pakistan.

Dean Jones was regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world during the 1990s. He is more remembered as the best batsman rather than a bowler. He is not only one of the best batsman around the world but also for Australia. He has a very good track record in ODIs as well as Test Cricket.

Overall, Dean Jones played 52 Test matches and 164 ODI’s for Australia. His batting average of 46.55 in test format has bagged him with 3,631 runs and an average of 44.61 in Limited overs cricket format has secured 6,068 runs against his name.

Dean Jones scored 18 centuries (11 in Test matches, 7 in ODI’s) and 60 half-centuries (14 in Test cricket and 46 in ODIs). His highest score in Test cricket was 216 runs and 145 runs in ODI’s.

One thing is sure. The cricketing world has lost a good cricketer, a  prominent personality and his family has lost a valuable person which cannot be explained. Dean Jones RIP….
