Ex-Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry Dies In A Road Accident

Former chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry was killed in a car crash on Sunday. The accident took place while returning from Gujarat’s Udwada to Mumbai.

Mistry was accompanied by 3 other family friends – brothers Darius Pandole along with his wife Anahita Pandole and Jehangir Pandole.

Anahita Pandole was driving the Mercedes GLC car when the accident happened. Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir Pandole died on the spot, while Anahita and Darius were injured. The deaths were caused by “severe head trauma and multiple external and internal injuries to vital organs.

Mistry suffered a head injury, which led to a hemorrhage (heavy bleeding), besides a severe chest injury. According to the Autopsy report –

Both of them suffered from multiple trauma and had injuries in the head, chest and limbs. There were injuries to vital organs, which can cause instant death,

Maharashtra’s Palghar district Police have obtained the CCTV footage to examine the car crash and investigate further. The footage shows the car passing through the Dapchari check post in the Palghar district at 2.21 pm on Sunday.

The car hit a road divider on a bridge over the Surya river on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway at around 3 pm. Preliminary findings say that the SUV could have been travelling at a speed of 130-140 kmph when the accident took place.

The last rites Cyrus Mistry will take place today at Worli crematorium.

Now-a-days Parsis are choosing to cremate their deceased loved ones instead of consigning them to the traditional “Towers of Silence” to be consumed by vultures.

Cyrus was the youngest scion of the SP Group. Cyrus Mistry’s father Pallonji Mistry died on June 28, 2022, at the age of 93. He was dubbed as the ‘Phantom of Bombay House’.

The deaths of father and son have put the spotlight on the future of the 157-year-old multi-billion dollar Shapoorji Pallonji Group. The SP Group has net worth properties of about $30 billion.
