Hong Kong Protesters plan protests on China’s National Day

More protests are planned by the Anti-government protesters marking China’s National Day on October 1. It is the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic formation day.

As announced earlier, the pro-democracy protesters have continued their anti-government protests on Sunday too. This time the protests have taken a more violent shape. Petrol bombs were used by the protestors. The Hong Kong police also retaliated in the same manner. They tried to disburse the mob by using tear gas, rubber bullets as well as water canons.

At the Wan Chai metro station, the protesters threw a petrol bomb due to which the entrance was set ablaze. The protests started in June as Carrie Lam tried to introduce a bill that facilitates the Hong Kong suspected criminals to prosecute in the mainland courts.

This erupted against the protests against the Hong Kong government. Though the bill was withdrawn, the pro-democracy protestors have some demands that are to be met completely. The slogan in the ongoing protests is “five-demands, not one less”.

China has its National Day celebrations on October 1. But the protest in Hong Kong has attracted International attention. China blames that some of the foreigners like Britain and the US are behind these riots in Hong Kong.

On the other hand, the news suggests that Lam would be leaving for Beijing to attend the 70th Anniversary of the People’s Republic. Some protesters have blamed that Lam is ignoring the unrest in Hong Kong and acting according to her bosses in China.

At the same time, some of the citizens in Hong Kong are supporting China. Around 200 China supporters have gathered together on Victoria Peak and sang the Chinese National Anthem.

During these protests, the Hong Kong pro-democracy protestors have sung a new anthem recently.
