T20 World Cup 2022 1st Semi-final is played between New Zealand and Pakistan at Sydney cricket ground (SCG), Australia. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.
This is New Zealand’s third consecutive appearance in the T20 World Cup semis. New Zealand reached Semi-finals by staying top in the Super 12 Group 1 table. It has the highest run rate (+2.113) in the tournament so far. It defeated Ireland by 35 runs in its last match before this semi-finals.
On the other hand, Pakistan stood in second place in the Super 12 Group 2 table. Pakistan also registered a comfortable win over Bangladesh in its last match. Pakistan won by 5 wickets against Bangladesh in the Super 12 last match.
New Zealand opener Finn Allen got out to a very low score of just 4 runs. He was given lbw out in the bowling of Shaheen Afridi. Conway was run out in the 6th over. New Zealand was 38-2 this fall. Devon Conway scored 21 runs off 20 balls.
Glenn Phillips was caught and bowled by Nawaz for 6 runs in the last ball of the 7th over. New Zealand was 49/3 at this stage.
NZ were 54/3 at the halfway mark with Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell at the crease.
NZ were 106/4 at the end of 15 overs. Shaheen Afridi Bowled out Williamson for 46 runs in the 16.2 over.
New Zealand finished their innings for 152/4 with Daryl Mitchell scoring the highest 53 runs and James Neesham 16 runs in the end.

Pakistan got a boosting start with openers. Both the openers scored half-centuries. Mohammad Rizwan scored 57 runs from 43 balls while Babar Azam scored 53 runs from 42 balls. Mohammad Haris scored 30 runs from 26 balls which guided Pakistan to a comfortable win. New Zealand bowlers Trent Boult claimed 2 wickets while Mitchell Santner claimed 1 wicket.
This is the first win in the T20 World Cup semifinal for Pakistan since 2009. Fourth World Cup semifinal for Pakistan against New Zealand in as many games. Twice in ODIs (1992 & 1999) and twice in T20Is (2007 & 2022).
