India repeated the T20I result in the decider of the last and final ODI match played at Cuttak today. India won the series 2-1 and match by 4 wickets.

Playing the last ODI match in this year 2019, India batting second chased the total in 48.4 overs by losing just 6 batsmen.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss in the series-deciding match and elected to bowl first as the pitch seem to be favoring batsmen throughout the day.

Batting first, West Indies scored a good total of 315/5 to defend. But the total was easily chased by the Indian team to finish the series with a win.

Nicholas Pooran (89 runs) and West Indian Captain Kieron Pollard’s 10th ODI half-century (74 runs) helped the team in securing a competitive total of 315 runs. But the West Indian bowlers failed to contain Indian batsmen from chasing the total.

Other WI Batsmen Shai Hope (42 runs), Roston Chase (38 runs), Shimron Hetmyer (37 runs), and Evin Lewis (21 runs) also contributed with their batting while Keemo Paul (3/59), Alzarri Joseph (1/53), Jason Holder (1/63) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/74) contributed their part with bowling for the WI team.

Indian openers K L Rahul and Rohit Sharma gave a good start for the Indian team while the Indian captain Virat Kohli continued the repo to finish the task for India.

Indian Batsmen Rohit Sharma’s 43rd ODI fifty (63 runs), K L Rahul’s 5th ODI half-century (77 runs) and Kohli’s 55th ODI half-century (85 runs) made India reach the goal easily. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja (39 runs) and Shardul Thakur (17 runs) helped India winning the match and the series.

Navdeep Saini makes his ODI debut for India by bagging 2 wickets and conceding 58 runs. He is the highest wicket-taker for India in this match. Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami took 1 wicket each by giving away 66 runs each.. Ravindra Jadeja picked 1 wicket for 58 runs.

India presently ranked no.1 in ODI’s has ended the year 2019 with an ODI series win. Rohit Sharma as an individual created a world record for scoring the highest number of runs in ODIs in a single calendar year as an opening batsman. 22-years old record in the name of Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya was holding this record.
