Over the past few months, tensions between India and China is on high. To ease the situation, both the countries decided to hold talks at the Military commanders level.
As a part of that, the latest round of talks between India and China took place on Sunday in Ladakh. But sadly, both sides to draw an amicable solution or proposals to ease the situation. The talks were held for almost 9 hours (started at 10:30 am and ended at 7 pm) but resulted in failure.
In an army statement from the Indian side,
During the meeting, the Indian side […] made constructive suggestions for resolving the remaining areas but the Chinese side was not agreeable and also could not provide any forward-looking proposals. The meeting thus did not result in resolution of the remaining areas,
The two sides have agreed to maintain communications and also to maintain stability on the ground. It is our expectation that the Chinese side will take into account the overall perspective of bilateral relations and will work towards early resolution of the remaining issues while fully abiding by bilateral agreements and protocols,
On the other hand, China said,
tremendous efforts to ease and cool down the border situation and fully demonstrated its sincerity
India insists on unreasonable and unrealistic demands, adding difficulties to the negotiations
Indian Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane said –
if the Chinese military continues with its large-scale deployment in the eastern Ladakh region, then the Indian Army too will maintain its strength on its side,
as good as what the PLA has done.
There are some friction points like Depsang and Hot Springs where the disengagement of troops have not resulted in easing the tensions.

To remember, a deadly border battle in the Galwan river valley of Ladakh in June last year has raised the tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours.
The wave of tensions from that time are still continuing as Indian and Chinese troops were engaged in a brief face-off near Yangtse in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh around 10 days ago. However, talks between commanders of the two sides resulted in peace.
In Uttarakhand, nearly 100 China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers transgressed the LAC in the Barahoti sector on August 30.
