India Deploys Troops In Ladakh To Counter Chinese Deployment

India deployed heavy tanks and troops in response to the Chinese deployment of troops along the LAC. The tensions between India China still exists in some parts at LAC.

India is strongly reacting to the Chinese deployment of the army along the LAC in Ladakh region. On August 1, 2020, India has deployed heavy troops and war tanks in regions of Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) and Depsang plains where there are chances of misadventure from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

On one hand, Army level talks are being held on both sides. And at the same time, the Chinese are trying to take an uneven advantage at some of the locations like Patrolling Point 1 near the Karakoram Pass (PP-3) to the Depsang plains and PP-10 to PP-13. The vicious thoughts of China are to build a roadway from TWD battalion headquarters to the Karakoram pass area via India territory.

A few years ago, a small bridge was built near PP-7 and PP-8 by the Chinese army illegally inside the Indian territory. But the Indian armed forces have foiled the step by demolishing that immediately. Such construction will facilitate the Chinese armed forces to move between the battalions very easily and in less time (Just a couple of hours, instead of 15 hours).

On Sunday, India and China are engaged in a dialogue focusing on disengagement from Finger area and other friction points. These talks were held at Corps Commander-level in Moldo which is on the Chinese side of LAC.

For the past few months, tensions between India and China have deepened. The situation has been in declining mode as no high-level talks were held from both sides. Only army level talks were being held and that has just calmed the situation but no concrete measures were initiated at the start of the conflict. The situation got hiped after 2 Indian army personnel got killed in a clash between the two country’s army men.
