Electromagnetic Intelligence-gathering Satellite (EMISAT) is one of the Indian reconnaissance satellite which is now serving the border surveillance duty.
Amid tensions India China border tensions, EMISAT has provided vital data to the Indian Army over the Chinese army movements at Line of Actual Control (LAC).
EMISAT which is developed at Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has provided data about the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) movements in Tibet which falls near Indian border state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Kautilya an ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) package which is carried by the EMISAT satellite has intercepted signals and recordings of PLA in Chinese occupied Tibet region which falls near Indian North-Eastern border. The RF signature of a radar which is used for locating and identifying the data signals of the enemies has helped the Indian army in a lot of ways.
EMISAT which is also termed as Indian Spy Satellite has helped the Indian Army to record the Chinese Army moments along the LAC since April 2019. Though this is India’s first electronic surveillance satellite, it is one of the most powerful intelligence and surveillance satellites.
China’s claim over the Galway Valley in Ladakh has claimed 20 Indian Army personnel lives and around 45-50 PLA troops on the night of June 15, 2020. The entire scenario was recorded by the EMISAT and the stand-off between both the countries have deepened.
It is evident that India stood firm and tough this time. Indian Prime Minister visited the Galway Valley in Ladakh and assured the army that this time Chinese illicit acts will not be tolerated. India has moved heavy army troops to confront any move by the Chinese PLA at LAC. Internationally, India gathered good support against China.
India has banned Chinese apps and its participation related to investments and other Indian government tender participations as a part of a digital strike against it.
