Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hamas leaders that if they fail to release the captives by Saturday afternoon, then he will resume the Gaza war.
On the other hand US President Donald Trump has issued a statement that escalates the situation in Middle East. Trump has repeatedly stating Israel to takeover the Gaza strip. Trump also urged Jordan King Abdullah to allocate land for the displaced Palestinians. Trump to visit Jordan soon.
Along with Jordan, Egypt has also opposed Trump’s plans on Gaza.
As of now, Israeli forces withdrew from militarilsed zone in Gaza strip that splits the area into Northern and Southern Parts.
As per the latest reports more than 5,00,000 Palestinians have returned to North Gaza since Gaza war cease fire. If war resumes, then again all of them have to flee to safer places. Isreal had seized eastern neighbourhood of Tulkarem city and Nur Shams in West Bank region for the past 16 days.
More than 30 independent United Nations Human Rights experts issued a joint statement condemning Trump’s statement to regain Gaza. The statement said
It is manifestly illegal to invade and annex foreign territory by force, to forcibly deport its population, and to deprive the Palestinian people of their inalienable right to self-determination, including to retain Gaza within a sovereign Palestinian state,
As per the terms and conditions of the ceasefire in November 2024, Israel has to withdraw troops from Lebanon by the end of January 2025. But Israel delayed it accusing Lebanon of not meeting the obligations. The US has supported the move by extending the deadline till February 18, 2025 ending.
There are few incidents of bombarding by Israeli forces in Gaza and Lebanon killing few people despite of cease fire. Lebanon has condemned the attacks saying its Gaza cease fire violation by Israel. There are reports that Israeli troops are raiding refugee camps in West Bank region on a large scale.
