After getting a coalition mandate from the people of Israel, the two main leaders Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz  are coming together to form a unity government.

The two leaders are meeting as the Israeli president has asked them to discuss the possibilities of forming a stable government in the country after a fragmented mandate by the people.

Yesterday, in a joint statement issued by Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz, they announced the meeting date as today. Main leaders from both the parties would meet and discuss about the possibilities of forming a coalition government.

Earlier, Gantz’s centrist Blue and White has emerged as the largest party winning 33 seats.  Netanyahu’s ruling party, Likud won 31.

Netanyahu at a meeting said

The only government that can be formed in these conditions is a united and large one between us,

The only way to reach it is to sit down and talk.

On the other hand, Nationalist Yisrael Beitenu party leader Avigdor Lieberman met with Benny Gantz yesterday to discuss the political scenario after the elections last week.

After the meeting Gantz stated –

We exchanged opinions and viewpoints and if needed, will speak again in the future,

President, Reuven Rivlin has a key role play in the present day of politics in Israel. Hr has been tasked to call all the candidates eligible to form a unity government.

Some of the reports suggest that Netanyahu is insisting to hold his post though it is a hung. But there seems to be a negative response in this regard from Gantz. The cases against Netanyahu is also a bit of concern. He is charged with three different serious allegations. In next few days, hearing on these cases is expected.
