Nepal politics has been unstable for the past few months since 2020 December 20. Now, after this verdict from the Supreme Court, it is to be seen how the Election commission will proceed. Earlier President has announced fresh elections to be held in two phases on April 30 and May 10 this year basing on Oli’s recommendations.

Oli was in the news for his dynamic and controversial decisions which included the change of map which included some of the Indian territories. His political planning also distanced Nepal from India and improved its relations with China.

However, Oli had repeatedly defended his decision to dissolve the House of Representatives, alleging some of his party leaders were attempting to form a parallel government. And he also recommended President go for the midterm poll. But the opposition party defied this decision and went to Supreme Court to challenge the same. On July 5th, 2021, a 4 member amicus curiae presented its opinion on the House dissolution case.
