T20 World Cup 2022: India Beat Bangladesh By 5 Runs

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 35th Match, Super 12 Group 2 – India register a win against Bangladesh in the group by beating it by 5 runs.

In a rain-affected match, India beat Bangladesh by 5 runs. Batting first India scored 184 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing a total of 151 runs in 16 overs, Bangladesh fell short of 5 runs. Bangladesh scored 145 runs by losing 6 wickets.

After a lengthy rain break, a revised target meant Bangladesh needed 85 off the last 54 balls.

Once again Virat Kohli was declared the player of the match. Both K L Rahul and Kohli scored good innings to post a challenging total of 184 runs. Rahul scored a half-century in just 32 balls. Kohli stood not out with 64 runs from 44 balls. Suryakumar Yadav scored 30 runs from 16 balls.

Bangladesh bowlers Hasan Mahmud (3/47) and Shakib (2/33) were the only 2 bowlers who were successful in claiming Indian batsmen wickets.

Batting second, Bangladesh’s batsman Litton Das scored 60 runs from 27 balls.

Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh (2/38), Hardik Pandya (2/28), and Mohammed Shami (1/25) helped India to win against Bangladesh. While Nurul Hasan (25 runs from 14 balls) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (21 runs from 25 balls) were the only batsmen who crossed the 20 mark.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first at Adelaide Oval ground. Here is the points table of Group 2.

Netherlands from Group 2 and Afghanistan from group 1 are already out of the tournament. Now Bangladesh is pushed into a must-win position. Bangladesh is scheduled to play against Pakistan in the upcoming match. On the other hand, India will play against Zimbabwe.
