Trump Announces Ceasefire To End 12-Day Iran-Israel War

Iran-Israel War: A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran was held on Wednesday. Despite US President’s warning fresh attacks and explosions have been carried by Israel on Tehran.

Donald Trump on Tuesday urged Israel to halt its bombing campaign on Iran. He further warned that any further action would be a “major violation” of the ceasefire. He also stated that both Israel and Iran had breached the terms of the truce.

Before the ceasfire, Iran launched missiles at a US air base in Qatar, in retaliation for American strikes over the weekend. Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards confirmed that their final missile barrage on Israel was launched just minutes before the ceasefire began.

Earlier, US carried out Air-strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

After the ceasefire, there was a broad sense of relief both regionally and globally. Amid these developments, Iran executed 3 men to death allegedly spying for Israel.

On the other hand, Israel claimed that it has killed around 14 Iranian scientists working in the Iran’s nuclear programme.

Following recent developments, Iran has decided to extend the closure of its airspace.

The US has stated it will now move forward with the nuclear deal negotiations with Iran. Iran and the US signed a key nuclear deal in 2015. According to the deal, Iran has to limit its nuclear programme and in return US will announce sanctions relief. This deal was under the then US President Barack Obama administration and was named Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The JCPOA was signed by the US, and other global powers – China, Russia, Germany, France and the UK.
