Turkey launches Operation Peace Spring in Syria with air strikes

Just a few days back, the US army has vacated the northeastern border in Syria. This has facilitated Turkey to launch attacks. The moment US President Trump announced the withdrawal of the armed forces from the safe zone, Turkey President  Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that its arm forces will start military operation. He named it “Operation Peace Spring“.

Recep tweets were immediately followed by the explosions caused by the airstrikes inside Syria. His Tweets are:

He further said

Our mission is to prevent the creation of a terror corridor across our southern border, and to bring peace to the area,

As said, Recep has ordered his air force to launch airstrikes inside Syria targeting the Kurdish positions. Till date, the US army stood in support of the Kurdish forces in a fight against the IS.

As per the local reports on Wednesday, airstrikes were carried out in the border town of Tal Abyad. On the other hand, Kurds have called up civilians to defend the attacks. In a statement issued by the Kurdish authorities in northern Syria –

We announce three days of general mobilisation in northern and eastern Syria,

head to the border with Turkey… to resist during this delicate historical moment.

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned Recep while taking up the army operations. Syria has said that it wants a safe border with Syria. Hence, the attacks are being carried out. Around 3.6 million Syrian refugees are hosted by Turkey during the 8-year old civilian war.
