Monday 2 Dec 2019, United Nations has announced the on eve of climate talks in Madrid from Dec 2 – 13. All global leaders are invited to participate in this event.
Before the start of the Global Climate Summit in Madrid, the United Nations General Secretary, Antonio Guterres on Sunday said
Our war against nature must stop, and we know that it is possible,
We simply have to stop digging and drilling and take advantage of the vast possibilities offered by renewable energy and nature-based solutions.
It is known that the World’s oxygen supplier, Amazon forest was cut down in the name of development. Brazil has not responded positively to the Global nation’s call of stopping the Amazon forest deforestation.

Apart from such incidents, one of the major set back for climate change moments is the withdrawal decision of the United States from the 2015 Paris Agreement. In view of that Guterres said –
We also see clearly that the world’s largest emitters are not pulling their weight,
and without them, our goal is unreachable.
U.N. Climate Summit 2018 in Poland has yielded some of the positive fixtures related to measures to curb climate disaster. According to it, Global countries have to report and monitor emission levels. Guterres reminded them on Sunday’s press conference and stated –
I don’t even want to entertain the possibility that we do not agree on article 6,
We are here to approve guidelines to implement article 6, not to find excuses not to do it.
As of now, 70 countries worldwide have committed to neutralising the Carbon levels in the atmosphere. This will automatically neutralize Climate change. Planting trees is the only solution and the easiest way to control carbon emissions. This means the development of the greenhouse is mandatory.
Above all these, the commitments and the summits are just put on paper. no country in the world is serious about climate and is dangerous for future generations and even the existence of the planet. Political mileages are dominating the climate control measures in almost every country.
Besides this, the Bank of England Governor, Mark Carney is elected as the U.N. special envoy on climate action and climate finance. Guterres said that Carney has accepted the invitation for the responsibility and will resume office from January 1, 2020.
