Iran issued an arrest warrant for United States President Donald Trump along with 30 others who are accused of involvement in the Jan 3, 2020 strike.
The strike killed Iran’s top military General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad. Iran has asked the help of Interpol to arrest US president Trump on charges of murder and terrorism. General Qassem Soleimani was killed by a U.S drone strike on 3rd January 2020.
The issuance of the arrest warrant against the U.S president Trump has heightened the tensions between Iran and the United States. Along with this, the U.S had accused Soleimani of plotting imminent attacks against it.
General Qassem Soleimani was Iran’s head for Quds Force and he was linked to assassination bids abroad. Apart from this, he is believed to be a close associate of Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei.
The tensions between the two have deepened when the U.S has unilaterally withdrawn from Tehran’s nuclear deal – JCPOA.

Coming to the present situation of Iran’s request for the Interpol to detain Trump is unlikely to have a result. As per the reports, Interpol forbid the request as political nature. However, France based Interpol has not responded officially in this regard.
As per Iran’s officials, they have requested to issue a “Red Notice” which will restrict the suspect’s travel, though immediate arrest may not take place. However, the request will be discussed by the Interpol committee and a decision will be taken whether to share the information with its member countries or not.
As far as this case is considered nothing has been publicised or put in the official website of the Interpol. Though it is not necessary to do so, in some cases that happens.
It seems that the heat between the two countries not going to end in the near future as the U.S presidential polls are also nearing.
