Kia Carens Recall: Kia India Recalls its latest MPV Over a Defective Airbag Control Unit. The problem will be rectified with a free-of-cost software update.
Kia Carens is the only vehicle in the segment to offer 6 airbags as standard fitment across variants. Kia Carens MPV scored a 3-star crash safety rating.

According to the company, over 44,000 units of the Carens have been affected. The issue can be resolved through a software update and will be provided free of cost.
Kia will be reaching out to customers to get their vehicles inspected. Customers can also visit the brand’s official website or use the Kia app to check if their vehicles are among those recalled.

The voluntary recall campaign is being undertaken to inspect any potential error in air bag control module software in the Carens,
Also, it would speak with the owners of the concerned vehicles individually to inform them of this voluntary recall campaign.
Inspired by global Kia vehicles like K5, Carens comes off as modern, yet conventional. With powertrains shared with its sister company Hyundai, Carens is mechanically a sorted product as well.

The Korean brand also promised to take utmost care to minimise the inconvenience throughout the process.
Though is a massive recall campaign, Kia has decided to take precautionary measures keeping in view its sister brand Hyundai’s bad experience. Hyundai was fined Rs. 1.25 lakh for airbag-related issues.
Launched in February 2022, Kia Carens gave tough competition to its rival MPVs Hyundai Stargazer, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and Maruti Suzuki XL6.
Kia Carens is offered 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, and 7-speed DCT transmission options. Kia Carens prices start from Rs. 9.59 lakh and go to Rs. 17.69 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
