On Saturday, Nov 9, 2019, Supreme Court of India has pronounced its verdict in the politically and religiously sensitive case related to Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute.
A Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and consisting of Justice S A Bobde, Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice S Abdul Nazeer has delivered 70-year old Ayodhya land dispute case judgement.
The highest court of India has ordered the Central Government to allot an alternative land for Muslims to build a Mosque. In other words, the judgement has been delivered in the favour of Hindus. A copy of the judgement will be placed in the official website of Supreme court.
However, the Muslim Sunni Waqf Board has differed with the judgement and has announced for a review.
As of now the judgement says that the land belongs to temple. Court also directed to set up a trust for building the temple there and directed the Government of India to allot land for Mosque alternatively. A time frame of 3 months has been set up by the court to the government for this activity.
As per this judgement, government should allot 5 Acres of land in Ayodhya for building up of the Mosque. The disputed land will be handed over to the Nirmohi Akhara, which fought for Shri Ram Janmasthan Temple.
Today’s judgement has put an end to the most controversial case in India history. Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid case is one of the long standing cases in India. This can be termed as a landmark judgement.
