Car bomb in Zabul province of Afghanistan killed atleast 20 people

Taliban continued to be in bloodshed as a series of bomb blasts are hitting the province. In the latest attack, a car bomb hits a hospital in Zabul province.

Latest reports suggest that at least 2people got killed and more than 95people got injured in Taliban Car bomb at a hospital. The dead and injured included many women and children. The casualties are likely to increase as the evacuation process progresses.

The injured are being taken to the nearest hospital in Kandahar for treatment. Most of the injured people are the one who has come to the hospital to visit their near and dear ones.

A senior defence ministry official stated that the target of the attack was National Directorate of Security (NDS). NDS is Afganistan’s powerful security agency.

The explosives-filled car was parked near a hospital in southern Afghanistan’s Qalat, the capital of Zabul province. This hospital is near the NDS building. In this attack, the wall of the NDS building got damaged.

A member of the provincial council in Qalat, Haji Atta Jan Haqbayan stated,

The number of casualties may rise as rescue teams and people are still searching the bodies under the rubble,

On 18th September, the Taliban have attacked a rally targeting President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul. But the attack was unsuccessful as Ashraf Ghani survived from the attack unhurt. But the attack killed nearly 48 people. Afghan capital Kabul has witnessed two separate bomb attacks on the same day.

In recent times Taliban have declared that they would intensify the fight against the Afghanistan government forces which are supporting the US forces.

Ashraf Ghani is standing for a second term for the post of President. Afghanistan’s presidential polls are scheduled on 28th September 2019.

The US-led forces are fighting against the Taliban for the past 18-years. The newly elected Ashraf Ghani’s government has fully supported the US army against the fight with the Taliban.
