Xi Jingping, a 66 years old Chinese president is considered as the strongest leader in decades. He was elected as the president in 2013. He retained his post for the 2nd time on 25th October 2017.
China’s Communist Party, People’s Republic of China celebrates its 70th anniversary in power as president Xi Jingping delivered a speech at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The celebrations were marked with the presence of former party presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao.
Before the start of the celebrations, Xi assured that “One Country, Two systems” will be upheld in Hong Kong. Celebrating the party’s formation day on Oct 1, Xi Jingping has stated –
There is no force that can shake the foundation of this great nation,
No force that can stop the Chinese people and the Chinese nation forging ahead.
Basing the formation day, China has showcased its military power for the first time on huge scale. The People’s Liberation Army has exhibited nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile DF-41. A high-altitude and high-speed reconnaissance drones were also a part of this show case for their first public appearance. Apart from these warplanes were a special attraction.
Nearly 100,000 civilians were present to attend the celebrations. Around 70,000 Doves along with same number of balloons are released by the organizers as a part of the celebrations. Fireworks at Tiananmen is a special attraction in the evening.
On the other side, the Hong Kong protests are taking a serious note as one of the protesters were shot by the police. Though immediate treatment was given to the injured person, the riots or in other words the protests are becoming a challenging task for the rulers in the mainland.
Another challenge that China is facing presently is the trade war with the United States.
Tibet still remains as a long standing issue for China that has to be resolved.
These challenges have to overcome by the Chinese leadership in order to sustain as a strong nation. Aiming the same Xi has announced that his party will work for the Unification of the country.
