AUS vs ENG, 2nd ODI, England tour of Australia, 2022: Australia beat England by 72 runs. Australia won the series. Mitchell Starc was declared Player of the match.

Australia won the toss and opt to bat first. Steven Smith scored 94 runs along with Marnus Labuschagne (58 runs) and Mitchell Marsh (50 runs) to put 280 runs on the scoreboard to chase.

England’s bowlers Adil Rashid (3/57), Chris Woakes (2/42), David Willey (2/44) and Adil Rashid (1/57) were successful bowlers to claim wickets.

Australia lost its first wicket in the form of Warner in the 6th over. In the 9th over, another Australian opener Head was Caught by Moeen Ali and thus Australia lost their 2nd wicket for 43 runs.

30th over and 43rd over were the highest-scoring overs for Australia. England gave away 12 runs in these over. In the 28th over and 49th overs, England claimed 2 wickets in succession.

At the end of the 50th over, Australia managed to post a total score of 280 runs on board by losing 8 wickets. England now needs 281 runs to win and level the series.

Chasing a target of 281 runs to win, England lost the opener Jason Roy and Dawid Malan without scoring any runs. England’s start was tragic. In the first over itself, England lost its 2 batsmen. England’s score was 2/2 at the end of the 1st over.

England tried to recover in the 4th over by scoring 14 runs in that over. England reached 28 runs by the end of 4th over. Again in the 22nd over, England cracked 15 runs in the bowling of Ashton Agar.

6th Over was an astonishing over from Australian bowler James Vince in which he took a wicket and gave no runs in this over. England was 34/3 in the 6th over.

James Vince and Sam Billings built a 4th wicket partnership of 122 runs in 136 balls. The partnership got broke after Hazlewood’s dismissal. Hazlewood scored 60 runs from 72 balls and he fell to James Vince in the 28th over.

Sam Billings also got out after scoring 71 runs in the 31st over. Australia bounced back in this over by claiming 2 wickets and not giving a single run. Adam Zampa bowled maiden wickets over. England was 169-7 after 31 overs.

Wicket’s fall continued till the collapse of England’s batting line-up. England’s innings were winded up in the 39th over. England finally scored 208 runs in 38.5 overs losing 10 wickets. Thus, Australia not only won the match but also won the 3-match series 2-0.

Australian bowlers Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa took 4 wickets each. Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets.
