ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan And England Register Wins

The history got repeated in Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka match. Pakistan won the match against Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the ICC World Cup 2023. Sri Lanka never won a match against Pakistan in any World Cup tournaments match till date.

Batting first, Sri Lanka got a disappointing start as one of their opener got out without scoring a run. But Pathum Nissanka, the other opener scored 51 runs. Down the line, Kusal Mendis (122 runs off 77 balls) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (108 runs off 89 balls) helped Sri Lanka post a challenging total of 344 runs.

Chasing a total of 345 runs to win. Pakistan Opener Abdullah Shafique (113 runs from 103 balls) and three down-batsman Mohammad Rizwan (131 runs from 121 balls) guided the Pakistan team to register a win against Sri Lanka in the Match 8 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Rizwan and Shafique stand tall in the record-breaking Pakistan victory. Mohammad Rizwan was declared as the Player of the match. With this win, Pakistan got 2 points taking its total to 4 points in the Team standings table of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Sri Lanka lost the 2 matches it played and has no points in the table.

In the Match 9 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, England outplayed Bangladesh by 137 runs. Batting first, England posted a total of 364 runs because of their opening batsmen Dawid Malan (140 runs off 107 balls) and Jonny Baristow (52 runs off 59 balls) Joe Root (82 runs off 68 balls) scores.

Mahedi Hasan (4/71) and Shoriful Islam (3/75) were the most successful Bangladeshi bowlers. Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan claimed 1 wicket each.

Chasing a tough total of 365 runs, Bangladesh batsman Litton Das (76 runs off 66 balls) Mushfiqur Rahim (51 runs off 64 balls) could only guide the team to reach a total of 227 runs.

England bowlers Reece Topley picked 4 wickets along Chris Woakes 2 wickets. Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, and Mark Wood claimed a wicket each.

After winning against Bangladesh, England scored their first points in the tournament’s points table. England stands in the 5th Place with 2 points after losing to New Zealand in their opening match of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Netherlands have points on the table as they are yet to win a match.
