In a Series deciding match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India outplayed West India to win the match as well as the series comfortably.
Batting first, India piled up a good total to defend. India scored 240 runs in their allotted 2 Overs by losing 3 wickets. The top-order batsmen have shown their capability of big-hitting performance by scoring half-centuries. Openers Rohit Sharma (71 runs off 34 balls) and K L Rahul (91 runs off 56 balls) helped India to post a massive total to chase for the West Indian team.
One-down batsman and Indian skipper Virat Kohli continued the spirit by scoring 70 runs off just 29 deliveries. wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is the only Indian batsman who was out for a Duck.
Though West Indian bowlers Kieron Pollard (1/33) Kesrick Williams (1/37) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/40) were successful in claiming wickets, they could not confine Indian batsmen from scoring huge totals.
Chasing a huge total, West Indian batsmen could not perform a match-winning team effort. West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard is the only batsman who scored 68 runs off 38 balls with the support of Shimron Hetmyer (41 runs off 24 balls) to make an effort to win the match.

Other batsmen like Hayden Walsh Jr. (11 runs off 3 balls) and Kesrick Williams (13 runs off 7 balls) are the only batsmen to enter the 2 digit numbers in their scores. All other batsmen were merely out for single digits.
Indian bowlers Deepak Chahar (2/20), Mohammed Shami (2/25), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/41) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/45) kept West Indian batsmen in check from reaching the target. West Indies could score only 173 runs by losing 8 wickets in their complete allotted 20 overs.
India’s K L Rahul won the Man of the match award whereas Man of the Series was awarded to Virat Kohli.
Though West Indies won the toss, it could not win the match as well as Series. In an important match, West Indies failed to show their championship level of performance.
To remember, West Indies defeated India in the same ground 3 years ago. India and West Indies played the World T20I Semi-Final match. India managed to score 192 runs in that match and lost to West Indies.
