In the 2nd T20I played between India and West Indies on Dec 8, 2019, WI bounced back into the series with an 8 wicket win against India.
Playing at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, West Indies pulled back itself from a series loss by winning the 2nd T20I out of the 3-match series against India. With this win WI level the 3 match T20I series 1-1.
After winning the Toss, WI opted to bowl first. Batting first, India managed to score a total of 170 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Shivam Dube is the top scorer for India with 54 runs apart from Rishabh Pant’s 33 runs.
WI bowlers bowled good spells to confine Indian innings to 170 runs. Hayden Walsh (4/28), Kesrick Williams (2/30), Khary Pierre (1/11), Sheldon Cottrell (1/27) and Jason Holder (1/42) were successful bowlers for West Indies.

Chasing a total of 171 runs to win, WI reached the task in 18.3 overs by losing just 2 wickets. Opener Lendl Simmons stood as top scorer with 67 runs. Other WI batsmen also scored good runs in reaching the target. Evin Lewis (40 runs), Nicholas Pooran (38 runs) and Shimron Hetmyer (23 runs) were helpful in reaching the target.
Indian bowlers Ravindra Jadeja (1/22) and Washington Sundar (1/26) were only successful bowlers to claim wickets. Other Indian bowlers failed to restrict West Indian batsmen from scoring and reaching the winning target. WI has chased the highest target on this ground. This is also the first win for West Indies after 8 T20I consecutive losses against India.
Lendl Simmons was declared Player of the Match. 3rd and Final T20I will be played on Dec 11, 2019, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. It will be the series decider for both the teams.
India and WI are set to play 3 ODI’s after the ongoing T20I series.
