On Tuesday, the only White female Giraffe in the World got killed by the Poachers along with its calf. This ends the chances of future generation re-production.
The killing of this animal is a big blow to the conservationists of the rare animal in the world. Sadly, this is the only female animal alive till date and a ray of hope for the future generations re-production.
March 10th, 2020 can be considered as a black day for the species. Kenya was preserving this species in the Ishaqbini Hirola Community Conservancy of Garissa which is located in Eastern Kenya.
This female got attracted World’s attention in the year 2017 when it was first spotted in Conservancy and then again it was in the news when it gave birth to 2 calves in August 2019.
But this time it stood for the last time in the news – that is because of its death. Sadly one of its also got killed by the armed poachers.
The death news was confirmed by the manager of the conservancy – Mohammed Ahmednoor. He said
The bodies of the two giraffes were found “in a skeletal state after being killed by armed poachers,
We are the only community in the world who are custodians of the white giraffe,
Its killing is a blow to tremendous steps taken by the community to conserve rare and unique species, and a wakeup call for continued support to conservation efforts.
Reason for White Colour in Giraffes
White colour for the giraffe is caused by a condition known as leucism. This state will continue to produce dark pigment in their soft tissue, giving them dark eyes which make them special from normal giraffes.
However, the loss of female White giraffe is an irrecoverable and big blunder on part of conserving the rare species. Now, only one male white giraffe is living on this Planet Earth.
