India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs on Day 3 of the first test match played at Holkar Stadium. After winning the toss Bangladesh chose to bat first.

Playing the first test match for the time during India’s tour of Bangladesh, India has bagged a victory. The match was played at Holkar Stadium.

Indian bowlers bowled good spells as the Bangladesh batsmen could not score good total in their first innings. Mushfiqur Rahim is the only batsman who scored 43 runs. Mominul Haque scored 37 runs. No other Bangladeshi batsmen have scored atleast 30 runs while batting.

Bangladesh scored just a total of 150 runs in their 1st innings. They were all out in 58.3 overs. Indian bowlers Ishant Sharma (2/20), Umesh Yadav (2/47), Mohammed Shami (3/27) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/43) were successful in containing Bangladesh to a low total.

Batting in their first Innings, India piled up a huge total of 493/6 score. Opening Batsman Mayank Agarwal scored his double century to put India in a commanding position. He scored his career best of 243 runs in India’s first innings.

Ajinkya Rahane (86), Ravindra Jadeja (60) and Cheteshwar Pujara (54) contributed to India’s huge total. Bangladesh Bowlers Abu Jayed (4/108) Ebadat Hossain (1/115) and Mehidy Hasan (1/125) were the only succesfull bowlers in claiming wickets. But could not contain India from scoring a huge score.

Bangladesh started its second innings poorly. Only Mushfiqur Rahim scored 64 runs. None of the Bangladeshi batsmen could tackle the pressure of scoring a good score to challenge India’s total.

Mehidy Hasan scored 38 runs. He is the second-highest scoring batsman for Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh could score only 213 runs in the second innings.

Mohammed Shami 4/31, Ravichandran Ashwin 3/42, Umesh Yadav 2/51 and Ishant Sharma 1/31 made Bangladeshi batsmen return to the pavilion without scoring huge score. This has resulted in India’s easy win. Mayank Agarwal won the “Man of the Match” award.

With this win, India took a lead of 1-0 in the 2 test match series. The second test match between India and Bangladesh will be played between 22nd to 26th at Kolkata.
